Got my computer @ a great rediculous low price and free shipping.. Came quicker than expected. Great print quality..printed alot of invitation with pictures, and in great time..like the double sided printing.. no more flipping the paper manually… can’t wait to find something else to print!

We bought this printer after seeing some nice print outs on shiny paper and hearing the estimate of a huge number of prints per printer cartridges. Once we got it home and started using it we found the quality of graphics and photos on documents we have previously printed on our HP2410 photosmart were far from the same level of quality (washed out look some colors way off, either gray cast or a yellow cast). Also colored text with shadowing won’t print without the shadowing covering part to the text. Following these disappointments. I learned a coworker has a similar HP that uses the same cartridges and has had problems with them. This morning I accidently got some water on a printed page and learned the black ink smears — I thought it was smeariness ink. This printer is not worth 1/2 the price!
Well, HP your going to get this one back ASAP and even though I have been an HP fan until now – I doubt I will be buying HP until you get your act back together. Cannon here I come!

After spending way too may hours trying to get this to work, it has been returned. I’m the one that my friends come to with computer and electronic questions. I’m geeky and set up all of my electronic equipment usually with no problem. Not the case here. Poor documentation and who the hell wants to spend time in cyberspace hell talking to outsourced tech in India. HP, get your act together and especially your quality control. Avoid, avoid and avoid this one.

I bought this printer HP 8500 Wireless for my small business. I have 4 computers on the network and only wanted to buy ink for one printer. First i will say I love the concept of 2200 pages of black and white paper for less than $40.00. BUT…I would give it a 0 stars if I could.
The network just does not work. the software that came with this hardware is just horrible. You just can’t install the drives because you lose the features that this printer has. Once you install the printer wireless or with an either cable it disables the network for the computer you are installing the software on.
I have owned many printers over the last 15 years or so and I have never seen one as bad as this one. I installed the software on 2 diffrent machines thinking it might be the computer but it’s NOT the computers at all.
After this expirence I will never purchase another HP printer again. And this is coming from someone who has purchases at least 4 HP printers in my lifetime. I think HP needs to test thier equipment and software before it ships out.

Was given the HP 8500 by HP to replace an HP L7780 (a complete and total piece of junk). This AIO printer shares many of the problems and features of the L7780. It has great features but I am continually frustrated in trying to tailor them for my needs. Printer is designed to default to use color at every opportunity. Who the heck wants to send or receive color faxes? You have to continually reset the printer so you can opt for black only printing. Additionally everything is preset for high quality printing so you continualy have to reset it for draft quality. I believe these default values accomplish one thing; SELLING HP’s INK.
Unfortunately much like the L7780 I am still having problems installing the printer. I am able to get the pint drivers to install but the fax drivers just will not install. Dozens of hours on the phone with HP support accomplished nothing.
It maked a fair bit of noise and has a lot of shaking as it operates and yes it prints slow especially with double sided copies (pauses to allow ink to dry).
HP support is a very hit or miss affair. Some tech have been great (Thank you team HP Canada) but unfortunately the majority are reluctant to admit they are in way over their heads. With them you will spend many hours running in circles doing or watching them (remote access is great) do things that have already tried and didn’t work. Hint. if it didn’t work the first dozen times, the thirteenth time probably is not going to do anything either. When whatever it is they purpose doesn’t work they are extremely unwilling to elevate the problem and act like it is a personal failure. You will often be promised a calll back from a supervisor or even a level 2 tech. Don’t hold your breathe most of thses promised calls never materalize. I have had service calls last over 6 hours so unless you have unlimited minutes, don’t use your cell phone.
One parting thought. If you have an HP computer don’t buy an HP printer. If you put an HP printer on an HP computer you will not be able to identify the HP printer files from the HP computer files that are needed by your computer making a clean uninstall extremely dificult.
Bottom line is if the printer installs properly and works the first time you try to install it, you have a decent machine with great features. If it fails to install properly the first time, return it to the seller. It is not worth the time and trouble to try and make it work.
