Marge Simpson Playboy Magazine Cover Picture

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

This photo is revolutioner, playboy magazine is turning over its cover to the matriarch of Springfield’s first family Marge Simpson.

It’s a first for the playboy magazine, which has had everyone from hot and sexy celeb like Marilyn Monroe to Cindy Crawford to the Girls of Hooters and even the likes of Jerry Seinfeld on the cover. But it’s never had a cartoon character before. That why its really revolutioner.

Marge and her pile of bright blue hair are set to grace the cover of the November issue of Playboy. It will hit the newsstands October 16.

Marge Simpson Playboy Magazine

Marge isn’t going to bare all, though, as the magazine says there will only be “implied nudity” in the 3-page pictorial.

New CEO Scott Flanders says the idea is to attract readers in their 20s to a magazine where the average reader’s age is 35.

Hmm,. I think its a tricky way to attract people, well its a good turning over from sexy celeb to Marge Simpson cartoon character for Playboy Magazine :D

David Letterman and Stephanie Birkitt Photo

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

David Letterman was the victim of a $2 million extortion plot and we have now discovered that according to New York public records, Stephanie Birkitt, 34, a former intern on The Late Show, lived with the accused extortionist Robert Joe Halderman, a CBS 48 Hours producer, and may have unwittingly fed him the information through the pages of her diary, photos and personal correspondence.

The 51-year-old Emmy award winning producer was reportedly strapped for cash because of $6,000 monthly child and spousal support payments.  Father of an 18-year-old and an 11-year-old children, he divorced his wife Patty Montet in 2004.   He was arraignment on Friday afternoon on a charge of attempted grand larceny in the first degree, punishable by up to 5 to 15 years in prison.  He entered a plea of not guilty and bail was set at $200,000. What Do We Have to Do to Get a Phone Charger Around Here?

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

Can we get all Andy Rooney on you for a second? It’s a known fact that iPhone batteries are complete crap (yes, even the new ones), and yet everyone has an iPhone, or will have one eventually — so why don’t bars and restaurants keep chargers around? Our 3G has died on us mid-risotto so often that we figure this is a common problem, but even if it isn’t, we’re begging enterprising restaurateurs to sink some ducats into a docking station or two (or if they’re in Williamsburg, six or seven) so we never again need to decide between ordering another Lambrusco or running home in order to juice our phone. It’s like, how many times have we spotted Rocco DiSpirito making out with twin sisters and been unable to photograph or tweet it for Grub Street? (Okay, that’s never happened.) Just think of iPhone chargers as the new purse stools — they’re an easy solution to a common problem. But you know what, forget it — we’re not out to change the dining world. Just, if you know of any establishments that are thoughtful enough to provide these (and fine, BlackBerry chargers, too), will you let us know in the comments? We don’t care if all they serve is Boone’s Farm and Hudson River hogchoker — we’re totally hitting them up next time we’re in need of voltage. And if you’re a restaurateur or tavern keeper who wants to get with the program, e-mail us — we’ll give you a shout-out. Heck, you can even charge us for them. Philippe Owner Stratis Morfogen: ‘The World Doesn’t Revolve Around Michael Chow’

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

Stratis Morfogen. In our experience, restaurateurs generally keep mum when they’re smacked with a lawsuit, but not Stratis Morfogen, God love him. We found him more than willing to talk about allegations that he and his chef, Philippe Chow, infringed on the Mr. Chow’s trademark in order to lure customers away. Our conversation was a long and lively one (Morfogen even ended up sending us his chef’s passport in order to show us he legitimately changed his name to Chow), so let’s get right to it. (By the way, if you thought Mr. Chow was taking the hard line, check out yesterday’s am New York article about Mister Softee sicking investigators and tow trucks on imposters.) Did you see this coming? When I partnered up with Philippe Chow five years ago and we opened four years ago, I said, “Something’s going to come where this guy is going to challenge it,” but Sirio didn’t do it to Daniel and I can name twenty other examples. If you’re not going to do it the first year, why four years later, when we have such big momentum? It’s suspect that it coincides with his opening in Miami. It’s all a PR stunt. One, it sounds desperate, and two, he wants to show we’re not the real deal and we’re the “imposter” or whatever he called us. How is Philippe feeling about all this? He actually wanted to call Michael Chow. He feels he has a 27-year history with him and he doesn’t understand why he doesn’t want to wish him well. You think that’ll happen? It won’t — Michael has always been about what’s best for Michael. He doesn’t have any chefs that are partners. He doesn’t have a history of sharing with his chefs or the guys that have made him a success. Did he come to you with these concerns and ask you to stop before filing the lawsuit? Never, never, never. You want a laugh? I actually sat at the same dining-room table at a Balenciaga party with Michael and his wife — maybe he didn’t know who I was, but I found it completely okay to sit at the same table as him. Has your lawyer given you any indication of how solid his case is? It’s meritless. Their complaint is that we’re confusing the customer. When we first opened, we went out of our way to take the extra steps and safeguards to make sure we were introducing our brand as something completely different than Mr. Chow. We don’t want to be associated with Mr. Chow. Obviously there are similarities in the dishes because the chef came with us and went after the American Dream and went on his own. He’s been cooking this way for 27 years. It all comes back to the fact that I don’t agree with the customer experience at Mr. Chow. They’re bright lights, we’re dark. They don’t give a menu, we do. They do orders for one, we do it for two or family style. They don’t have a lot of music in the house, we have music in the house. We wanted a complete turnaround from what customers were experiencing there. I was going there for seven years and I’d always eat the same thing and get a different bill. What about this accusation that Philippe lifted dishes? When you designed the menu, did you think about how similar they should or shouldn’t be to Mr. Chow’s? Mr. Chow doesn’t own the words Beijing chicken or Peking duck or lettuce wrap or chicken satay or crispy beef. They’re in a hundred Chinese restaurants. For him to say he has a trademark means Burger King should be wiped out because McDonald’s has a trademark on the hamburger. We’re not calling it the Whopper, or “Mr. Chow’s chicken satay.” Thirty percent or 40 percent of our menu is dishes that Michael Chow does not have. Keep in mind, Michael Chow is not a cook. It’s fine if Michael Chow wants to say that I’m just an amusement-park owner or whatever, but let’s be clear: Michael Chow is not a chef. He’s lived off other people and other chefs. Philippe goes by “Philippe Chow” and “Philippe Chow Chau” on these documents. And was Philippe a chef or was he really just an expediter, as the lawsuit claims? To portray him as a chopper is comical. That hurt him, because he put 27 years of his life in there. When I was introduced to him by managers, waiters, and staff, they called him Chef Philippe, Chef Philippo, Chef Philippa — always Chef. In his office there are pictures of him and celebrities photographed in the middle of the dining room in a full chef’s outfit. Our lawyers will tear this apart because his whole complaint is contradictory. It’s almost laughable. Actually, when Philippe said he was leaving, Michael Chow offered him a couple years’ salary not to open a new restaurant. Why would you make that kind of deal with a “chopper?” And if you want to clear up this thing about him being the chef, why don’t you do that the first week we open so that we don’t have any momentum? Is it true you slipped a bus boy a twenty in order to be introduced to him? It wasn’t a $20 bill, but I gave a business card to the bus boy and that’s how he came out. That’s not how the deal came about — we became friends first. I mean, not friends, but he knew who I was and he would see me and say hello and we ended up coming together in 2005. Obviously Mr. Chow seems to be doing well for itself. Do you think they’re doing this because they see you’re not doing as well and they want to sink you finally? Or is it that they see you as a threat? Who has the bigger business? We average 400 to 500 dinners a night — he averages 50 to 60 dinners a night. Ninety percent of the market share has come to Philippe. How do you know Mr. Chow’s numbers? The chefs all talk. They’re all friends. We have about six or eight people that left Mr. Chow and worked with us. The ex-waiters filled in the missing information [about Mr. Chow] — they charged you whatever they wanted to charge you. A great deal of the acrimony seems to be because you’re located so close to each other. Is this like a Pinkberry–Red Mango thing where you’ve made a conscious decision to be near him? Our decision is to stay away from him. We signed the Miami deal before his deal and opened a year and two months before he opened. I don’t understand how he says we went where he was. I’ve been offered a dozen different locations in Beverly Hills and I’ve intentionally stayed away from all of them. But your publicist did kind of go after him by pointing out that he supposedly hired a non-Chinese chef. Do you think that might have triggered this? Do you regret that? I don’t think it did. That was really an internal conversation we had with our publicist, and it wasn’t meant to go out. To tell you the truth, I thought it was pretty smart for him to go in a different direction. Finally, there’s the accusation that you tried to use search tags and whatnot to lure away Mr. Chow’s would-be customers. You have to admit, you must’ve tried to snag some of his customers in the beginning. Absolutely not. Yes, in Google we bought the word Chow — we bought different words like “Chinese food” because that’s just good marketing. Why shouldn’t we get the word Chow when our chef’s name is Chow? There are one million people in the world named Chow! You know what’s funny? Philippe Chow’s birth name and his American name are pretty similar — they’re both pronounced Chow. Michael Chow’s birth name has nothing to do with Michael or Chow. This is borderline egomaniacal! The world doesn’t revolve around Michael Chow. Earlier: Philippe to Mr. Chow: Yeah, I Changed My Name to Chow. So What? LG teases next-generation Chocolate for August unveiling

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

To say that the Chocolate was a hit for LG would be similar to saying the PlayStation 2 went over well for Sony. Indeed, the outfit’s best selling handset ever ( 21 million units worldwide ) holds a special place in the hearts of suits and shareholders alike, so it’s hardly a shock to see the company issuing a next-generation version of the device. Slated to fall into LG’s Black Label series, the phone — which is simply dubbed the ’second generation LG Chocolate’ for now — will be fully unveiled in August, with bits and pieces to be strategically dropped during the run-up. The only real hint at features that we’re given is the following: “The new LG Chocolate will be a disruptive force in conventional mobile screens in an effort to maximize usability while inheriting the original minimalist-inspired style and iconic design of its predecessor.” Haptics? OLED? A portal into the future? Only time will tell. Sony Vaio W netbook now official in US, coming August for $499

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

Not so much of a surprise now, but Sony’s bringing its 10.1-inch Vaio W stateside as well, and yes, according to the Sony reps we talked to, this time they really do mean to call it a netbook, unlike its Vaio P brethren . Likewise, with that nomenclature comes none too surprising specs, including a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Windows XP, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n, VGA out, two USB ports, Ethernet, webcam, and MemoryStick / SD card readers. The three cell battery should last an estimated three hours, and like usual there’s also an option for six cell. That isolated (read: chiclet) keyboard is said to be 86% the size of a normal typing surface, and the aforementioned bundled VAIO Media plus software enables content streaming across DLNA-enabled devices like the PC or PlayStation 3. Now for what’s missing: the reps stressed this an “in-home” product for them, and as such there’s no talk of 3G or GPS, nor should hold your breath for an optical drive or SSD option. The company stressed the hardware’s build quality here, and while we’ll have to wait until we get our hands on to validate, like we said before, the pics aren’t exactly flattering when you look at what the competition is producing . All that’s left to discuss for now is the release date, pricing, and color options, so in order: just around the $500 mark, mid-August, and berry pink, sugar white and cocoa brown. Welcome to the bottom , guys. Full press release after the break. Factron iPhone case packs interchangeable camera lenses, built-in excess

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

The Factron folks have been doing their custom case thing with various Apple products for some time now , but they’ve truly outdone themselves with their new iPhone case, which not only boasts some stylish, rangefinder camera-esque looks, but a complete set of interchangeable (presumably functional) lenses. Those include fish eye, wide-angle, and close-up lenses, which range in price from $15 to $55, while the case itself will set you back a full $200. Quite a bit to pay for a case, to be sure, but a veritable bargain compared to the $800 that some of the group’s previous cases have fetched. Hit up the gallery below for a closer look. Synology debuts compact DS409Slim four-bay NAS

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (1)

Not interested in a do-it-all NAS / router / photo frame like D-Link’s DIR-685 ? Then you may want to consider Synology’s just-announced DS409Slim NAS, which keeps things nice and simple and, as you can see above, compact. Despite that size, however, you’ll still get four bays for some 2.5-inch drives of your choice (up to 2TB total), along with some standard issue NAS specs like a 1.2GHz Marvell processor, 128MB of RAM, a pair of USB ports, and a single eSATA port — not to mention the usual DLNA certification and support for UPnP, among other media-friendly features. Look for this one to start shipping this month with a street price of about $400. An EXCLUSIVE First Look at the Vanderbilt 80 Years Ago

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

We’ve seen restaurant PR get more and more into the plywood thing — Aureole and Marea offered bloggers hard-hat tours, and Aureole even had a Flickr page of its construction. But this is a bit much — a publicist has sent over these exclusive pre-pre-pre-plywood shots of 635 Bergen, where Ben Diatz of Num Pang and Saul Bolton of Saul are working on a Prospect Heights project called the Vanderbilt (the entrance is at 570 Vanderbilt). With Bolton still planning the menu, they can’t give specifics other than that it’ll open late summer or early fall and have a “cool” vibe (read: fancy cocktails), but there you have it — an EXCLUSIVE first look! Evidence mounts for iPods with cameras

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

The iPod with camera is pretty much a given at this point in Apple’s evolutionary approach to its audio / video players. In fact, we’ve already seen iLounge’s confident rendering of an iPod nano with camera . Now we have the first cases with matching camera cut-outs (like that of the above) for the iPod nano in addition to an iPod touch case with similar cutouts passing through our tips box. This morning TechCrunch is claiming that a “massive number of camera modules” for iPods have been ordered per information provided by a source in Asia. Add it all up and we should see the announcement of a new iPod touch and iPod nano with photo / video recording sometime around September per Apple’s usual pattern. Somehow or another, D-Link managed to combine a NAS, digital photo frame, secondary display and 802.11n router into a single device, and when the Xtreme N DIR-685 Storage Router was announced way back at CES this year, we were certainly interested to see how such a conglomerate would go over. Pentax K-7 review roundup

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

We’ve been nothing if not comprehensive in our coverage of this new Pentax shooter, and early reviews are showing why. Photography Blog praised the K-7 for its weatherproofing and for having “one of the best LCD screens” they’ve ever seen on a DSLR, while ePHOTOzine were impressed by the image quality and Wired found the package of features and specs exceedingly robust given the $1,300 asking price. Some shortcomings were found, such as the slightly unintuitive interface and noise levels at higher ISO settings, but impressions were overwhelmingly positive
