Mitsubishi to introduce preposterously large 149-inch OLED TV at ISE 2010

Gadget news about Mitsubishi to introduce preposterously large 149-inch OLED TV at ISE 2010 – Yeah, you can snag a TV larger than this , but good luck finding a 150-inch set with an OLED panel. In a presumed effort to quietly exert superiority over those “other guys,” Mitsubishi is purportedly planning to unveil a 149-inch OLED TV at ISE 2010, which kicks off in earnest next week — though, we have to say, we sure hope it’s not one of those modular units that we saw at CEATEC .

Nexus One for AT&T’s 3G bands likely in the works

Posted by Colin Blackace Comments (0)

Gadget news about Nexus One for AT&T’s 3G bands likely in the works – By all appearances, Google’s trying to break Android free of the surly bonds of the manufacturers and carriers that support it, opening its own online store and selling unlocked Nexus Ones to anyone willing to pony up the $529. Problem is, the Nexus One as we know it today is only available in a configuration that supports North American 3G on AWS spectrum, meaning you’ve got to go with the States’ fourth-largest carrier if you want to blaze — you’ve got no other option

Totally blow out the big game! Part V: Super Bowl XLIV

Posted by Zac Worldwing Comments (0)

Gadget news about Totally blow out the big game! Part V: Super Bowl XLIV – Sure, the Wall Street Journal says there’s only 11 minutes of actual action in every NFL game, but on Super Bowl Sunday we’ll be prepped to catch every one of them — and all the commercials, play stoppages and halftime shows in between — in the best quality possible. The Colts and Saints both came close to racking up undefeated regular season records but missed, due either to lackluster play and late season injuries or just a decision to play Curtis Painter. While that means the ‘72 Dolphins get to hang onto a glorious past for one more year, these pass-happy offenses of the future are expected to light up the scoreboard all night and we’ll need to make sure our equipment is up to par for a 2010 Super Bowl experience

Alienware’s ‘Phantom’ concept became M11x, cranks through Left 4 Dead 2 on video

Posted by Stephan Robinson Comments (0)

Gadget news about Alienware’s ‘Phantom’ concept became M11x, cranks through Left 4 Dead 2 on video – It’s turning out to be quite the day for Alienware , eh? First we see that the M15x and M17x are finally up for order (with their swank Core i7s within), and now we’ve got the first public video of the M11x doing its thang. If you’ll recall, we only had enough time at CES to snap a few quick pictures, but now that the starting-at-$799 ultraportable (or “netbook,” if you must) is said to be “coming soon,” it seems that parent company Dell is feeling pretty good about showing it off

T-Mobile myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition impressions

Posted by Phil Guye Comments (0)

Gadget news about T-Mobile myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition impressions – Last October, we would’ve never guessed that T-Mobile would bother to circle back with HTC on the myTouch 3G to craft a slightly modified version that fixes everyone’s single biggest complaint — the lack of an integrated 3.5mm headphone jack — but here we are now in January with that very product resting in our hands. Even crazier, though, is that the only version of the modified phone (or, at least, the only version announced so far) is a limited edition tie-up with Fender and pitchman Eric Clapton

Netflix earnings, subscribers and streaming growth have analysts drooling over a theoretical Amazon buy

Posted by Abesha Bunna Bet Comments (0)

Gadget news about Netflix earnings, subscribers and streaming growth have analysts drooling over a theoretical Amazon buy – It’s total pie-in-sky speculation, completely lacking in serious evidence or even vague “sources familiar with the matter,” but for some reason, after two and a half years of hard rumoring , analysts seem more sure than ever that Amazon is looking into a Netflix acquisition. Netflix just announced some pretty attractive quarterly earnings, along with some nice hard numbers: it added one million subscribers in Q4 to notch itself past the 12 million mark, and 48% of its customers streamed at least 15 minutes of video off of Instant Watch — compared to 28% a year ago

Bleep Labs builds Arduino-based Nebulophone, wants to sell you one

Posted by Annie Stone Comments (0)

Gadget news about Bleep Labs builds Arduino-based Nebulophone, wants to sell you one – What do you get when you mash together an Arduino -based synth with a Stylophone-like keyboard? A month ago, even we wouldn’t have known, but now that Handmade Music Austin has come and gone, we’re happy to say that this beautiful concoction leads to the creation of a Nebulophone. Unfortunately, there’s no video (yet) to showcase what this musical wonder can do, but we’re told that it has “adjustable waveforms, a light controlled analog filter, LFO and an arpeggiator that can be clocked over IR.” Hit the source link if you’re looking for all the code, schematics, and instructions necessary to give yourself a weekend project, and feel free to drop the guys / gals there a line if you’re interested in just buying one

Gadget news about Sony says the Reader is selling ‘very well,’ thank you very much, isn’t planning color versions – With all this talk of iPads and Kindles shaking up the print world, few people are sparing a thought for Sony’s noble Reader series, so the company would like to take this opportunity to remind you that it is “selling very well.” Fujio Noguchi, Deputy President of Sony’s e-book division, indicated that the gadget is its most popular item in the Sony Style store, with the Touch Edition selling the most units. He says that his focus is on “readability” and that the company will continue to use e-paper, good news for those with sensitive eyes, but that Sony has no plans for a color Reader until color e-ink screens are of sufficient quality

Gadget news about Steve Jobs compares iPad battery life to Kindle’s: ‘You’re not going to read for 10 hours’ (video) – Hey, remember back when Steve Jobs said ” people don’t read anymore ” when discussing why the Kindle would be a failure? Heh, funny story: turns out Apple just released a device called the iPad and, at its unveiling , spent an awful lot of time showing off what a great reader it is. However, when comparing it to Kindle ( as we did here ) you have to think about that battery life figure: 10 hours vs.

Giroux Daguerreotype is world’s first mass-produced camera, about to become the most expensive one too

Posted by Michael Olowakandi Comments (0)

Gadget news about Giroux Daguerreotype is world’s first mass-produced camera, about to become the most expensive one too – If you thought that shooters like Olympus’ E-P1 or Leica’s M8 had old school aesthetics, think again. The real old school — we’re talking 1839 here — was all about wooden boxes and brass lens protrusions, as you can see above. The double box design of the Daguerreotype lets you achieve focus by moving the smaller inner box away from the front-mounted 15-inch lens
