Reminder: vote for your favorite Kindle design by Monday!

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

Gadget news about Reminder: vote for your favorite Kindle design by Monday! – Our Kindle contest that we’re running in cooperation with our good friends at Adafruit Industries and Amazon has drawn to an epic conclusion, and there’s simply no other way to put it — we’re blown away. We received literally dozens upon dozens of incredible, art gallery-worthy entries and it was all but impossible to narrow them down to a group of finalists — but after an entire weekend of mulling, debating, and hand-wringing, we’ve done the dirty work and narrowed it down to a group of just twenty-three

Caption Contest: Civil War reenactment + iPhone = ubernerd

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

Far be it from us to make fun of people for their favorite pastimes — that would, in fact, be the pot calling the kettle black (considering that we’re both addicted to gadgets and quilting, we have little room to point fingers). However, it’s possible that you might be a serious nerd if you’re caught gabbing on your iPhone in the midst of a hike during a reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg.

Keith McNally Is Pulling His Hair Out Over That Pizza Place

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

Restaurant Girl sits down with Keith McNally, and boy does he lay on the charm, as usual. You gotta love this kind of modesty in an industry full of bluster: “I enjoy putting places together, that’s all. With that comes a knack for working with people far more talented than myself.” And: “I’m anti pro- everything.” McNally spiels about Morandi (“I think Jody Williams is a terrifically talented chef, but unfortunately I did not enjoy working with her”), his nameless pizza place on the Bowery (“it’s already over budget and behind schedule and I’m at the stage where I’m pulling out my hair and wishing I weren’t doing it”), and of course Minetta Tavern : “If someone’s really nice and willing to be patient, we always find a table for them

Scott Conant Asks Delicatessen’s Chef to Serve Edible Product

Posted by bundeg magz Comments (0)

The much-maligned Delicatessen got its moment in the national eye last night, as executive chef Michael Ferrara advanced to the final round of Chopped , but not before Scott Conant could dig into him for improperly washing his squid. Judges Amanda Freitag, Marc Murphy, and Conant found stray eyeballs in the dishes of the other contestants, too, but it was Ferrara who got the harshest criticism. Conant accused him of not knowing how to use calamari and scolded, “You have a responsibility to serve edible product to the people you’re cooking for.” Then later: “If this was a group of rising stars, this was very immature food at best.” Ouch
